What's included

Your chlamydia consultation, with a doctor behind it

  • Cured with antibiotics

Uncomplicated chlamydia clears up with a short course. The doctor chooses the right one for your case, your allergies and, where relevant, pregnancy.

  • Fast and discreet

No waiting rooms, no face-to-face explanations: you describe your situation in writing and only the medical team reads it.

  • With clinical judgement

The questionnaire picks up the signs that the infection has spread and needs a face-to-face examination. If that’s your case, we’ll tell you plainly.

  • Your partners too

We explain who to tell and how, because getting treated without your partner doing the same is the shortest route to reinfection.

What chlamydia is

Chlamydia is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection, especially between the ages of 18 and 30. It’s passed on through vaginal, anal or oral sex, and its most treacherous trait is that most infected people notice nothing: more than half of cases are thought to cause no symptoms. Left untreated it can cause serious complications, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, chronic pain or fertility problems.

When this consultation makes sense

  • You’ve tested positive for chlamydia and need treatment.
  • Your partner has tested positive and you should be treated even if you have no symptoms: this is known as contact treatment.
  • You have symptoms that make you suspect it — burning when urinating, unusual discharge, bleeding outside your period — and you want a doctor to assess it.

If you haven’t had a test, the doctor will decide whether one should be done before treating: treating blindly can mask another infection needing a different treatment.

The treatment

Uncomplicated chlamydia is cured with a short course of oral antibiotics. Which one depends on your case: allergies and pregnancy change the choice, which is why the questionnaire asks about both. It’s important to complete the full course, avoid sex until seven days after finishing it, and not to assume on your own that the infection is cured if symptoms persist.

Your partners need treatment too

It’s the part of the treatment most often forgotten and the most important for it to work: if your partner isn’t treated at the same time, reinfection is only a matter of time. It’s advisable to tell your sexual partners from the last six months so they can get tested. We know it’s not an easy conversation; the doctor can guide you on how to approach it.

When an online consultation isn’t enough

If there’s fever, intense pelvic pain or testicular pain, the infection may have spread and a face-to-face examination is needed. The questionnaire detects this and will tell you: in those cases, going to your local health centre promptly makes all the difference.

FAQ

Common questions about chlamydia

What does the chlamydia consultation and treatment include?

The chlamydia consultation and treatment includes an assessment by a registered doctor and a written reply in less than 15 minutes, with your treatment plan, guidance on telling your partners and follow-up messages. No appointment needed, 100% online and completely discreet.

How much does online chlamydia treatment cost?

The chlamydia consultation and treatment costs €35 as a single payment with one consultation included. The price covers the registered doctor's assessment, their written reply in less than 15 minutes and follow-up messages to answer your questions, with no appointment and no travel.

Is the chlamydia consultation confidential?

Yes, the chlamydia consultation is confidential from start to finish. You explain your situation in writing, without having to explain yourself face to face, and only the medical team sees your answers. It is online and available throughout Europe, so you can do it from home or while travelling, at any time.

My partner has chlamydia and I have no symptoms. Do I need treatment?

Yes. Chlamydia causes no symptoms in more than half of cases and the chance of passing it on is high. Getting treated at the same time as your partner is how you break the chain; if only one of you is treated, reinfection is very likely. This is called contact treatment and you don't need to wait for a test.

When can I have sex again after chlamydia treatment?

Wait 7 days after finishing chlamydia treatment, both you and your partner, even if it was a single-dose treatment. Before then you can still pass it on or get reinfected. If you have had several recent partners, the doctor advises you on an easy way to let them know.

Do I need another chlamydia test after treatment?

Generally you don't need to repeat the chlamydia test if you complete the treatment and your symptoms go away. A test of cure is recommended during pregnancy or when symptoms persist, and young people are advised to get screened again after a few months, because reinfection is common. The doctor tells you what applies in your case.

What happens if chlamydia is left untreated?

Untreated chlamydia can spread upwards and cause serious complications: pelvic inflammatory disease, chronic pelvic pain, ectopic pregnancy and fertility problems, in both women and men. That is why it is best to treat it as soon as it is detected or as soon as your partner tests positive, without waiting for symptoms.
